Why We Tested Rasāsvāda in a Longevity Study

Why Test on C. elegans?
C. elegans are widely recognized as a gold-standard model in aging research and are used by institutions like MIT, Caltech, and the NIH to study the biology of healthy aging.
Microscopic C. elegans only live about 20 days. That short lifespan makes them ideal for quickly screening interventions that may impact human healthspan – the length of time we live in good health.
Despite their size, C. elegans share many important genes and biological pathways with humans, including those related to aging and disease. They also share many of the same systems as humans including digestive, reproductive, muscular, and nervous systems.
What Does a 32% Increase Mean for Humans?
The short answer: We don’t know yet.
It’s much harder and more costly to test impacts on human healthspan and longevity since humans live so long. What we do know is that the unique combination of plants in Rasāsvāda shows a potential to benefit human healthspans.
